The 2024 Latin American and Caribbean Regional Pre-Summit on Disability took place from December 9 to 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, offering a key opportunity to address the challenges and opportunities faced by persons with disabilities in the region.
As part of the series of regional pre-summits for the Global Disability Summit 2025, the LATAM pre-summit was organized by RIADIS in collaboration with the International Disability Alliance, CREI-SESC RJ and key stakeholders, seeking to consolidate a unified voice from the region ahead of the GDS.
The central objective of the pre-summit was to promote inclusion, the development of inclusive public policies and the active participation of persons with disabilities in society. The structure of the event was designed to facilitate a constructive dialogue between representatives of governments, civil society, the private sector and organizations of persons with disabilities.
The event served as a platform to generate concrete commitments for GDS 2025, that strengthen inclusion in the region, aligned with the principles of equality, dignity and human rights established by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
We will soon be sharing the Outcome Document of the pre-summit here. Stay tuned!
